about chantel chavon

A proud south-side Chicago native, Chantel Chavon is a rising multi-disciplinary writer, director, producer, and actor who brings the wildly embarrassing, adventurous, provocative, haunting, other-worldly and heartwarming stories from her imagination to the screenβ€”all while thrusting the full and nuanced lives of Black characters to the center of her stories. Acting since the age of five, Chantel has performed in multiple theatre productions, digital series, and independent films. She is a professionally trained actor who has studied theatre, television, and film techniques at The Green Room Studio, Actors Studio Chicago, ETA Creative Arts and the Vagabond School of the Arts.

After gaining experience working behind the scenes on multiple sets as a PA, and feeling exhausted with the lack of opportunities she was presented with for more meaningful as an actor, she was inspired to make the transition behind the camera to create more of the stories with nuanced characters that she was interested in portraying or watching. Chantel studied the art of filmmaking intensely, taking various screenwriting, producing, editing, and directing for TV/Film classes at Chicago Filmmakers and Second City Training Center.

As the Co-Founder of Nyte Lyte Productions, Chantel has executive-produced, written, starred and directed a comedic digital-series pilot, Life With Bae, and a dramatic short film, When the Leaves Fall, which is currently being packaged for submission to 2021 film festivals.

Chantel holds a Master’s Degree in Integrated Marketing Communication from Northwestern University.
